Exploseum in Bydgoszcz
Description:
Museum facility in Bydgoszcz, branch of the District Museum Leon Wyczółkowski in Bydgoszcz, presenting the industrial architecture of the Third Reich in the area of DAG Fabrik Bromberg (one of the largest armaments companies of the Third Reich erected in the occupied Polish lands), along with an underground tourist route. The exhibitions relate to the history of the DAG concern, whose founder was Alfred Nobel, the DAG Bromberg factory, military, weaponry, explosives, as well as forced labor in the Third Reich, resistance, conspiracy and sabotage.
The museum includes eight adapted buildings of the nitroglycerin production zone (German: NGL-Betrieb) connected by tunnels. This represents approx. 1% of the area of the former DAG Fabrik Bromberg. The whole establishment is located in the Bydgoszcz Forest, on the southern edge of the Bydgoszcz Industrial and Technological Park, about 6 km southeast of the city center of Bydgoszcz. In 2012, the museum zone was separated from Zachem, which allows free access to the Exploseum.
The tour takes place alone or in groups with a guide over the telephone booking. It lasts about 2 hours and includes walking a specially marked route through all the objects connecting them with tunnels and paths, watching exhibitions, multimedia, as well as a short film. Multimedia in the form of background music, sound effects, films and interactive screens helps in visiting.
